Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake Felt Over 100 Miles Away
A powerful earthquake measuring 7.1 magnitude struck near Los Angeles, California, on Monday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the region and shaking homes.
Two minutes after the initial quake, a 5.1-magnitude aftershock jolted the area. The earthquake was felt over 100 miles away, from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
No major damage or injuries have been reported so far. However, the earthquake has caused widespread panic and disruption.
Thursday's quake registered magnitude 7.1 and was centered in waters off the eastern coast of Kyushu at a depth of 60 kilometers (37 miles).
In the past 24 hours, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 or greater, and in the past 7 days, there have been seven earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 or greater.
