North Korea's Hair-Raising Fashion Police
Dictator Kim Jong-un Issues Style Guide for State-Sanctioned Haircuts
28 Government-Approved Coiffures Leave Hollywood Stars Quaking In Their Boots
In a move that would make Carrie Bradshaw's head spin, the North Korean government has released a comprehensive guide to acceptable hairdos for its citizens. With a whopping 28 styles to choose from, both men and women must adhere to these strict fashion guidelines or face the wrath of the style police.
For the ladies, the options range from the demure "Youthful Beauty" to the more experimental "Perm Wave." However, it seems that Hollywood's leading men might have a tough time conforming to the North Korean aesthetic. With only 10 styles available to them, including the rather questionable "Short Cut," it's clear that the fashion-forward flair of the Oscars would be met with a stern rebuke in the Communist state.
But why stop at hair? Dictator Kim Jong-un has a long history of dictating every aspect of North Korean life, from what people wear to what they watch on TV. With this latest decree, it's clear that even the most personal of choices are not immune to the whims of the Supreme Leader.
